Faculty/Staff Mentors

Faculty/Staff Mentors serve an integral role in Dawg Camp Programs. Each year, UGA faculty and staff members serve as mentors during Dawg Camp and have the opportunity to interact with incoming students. Our campers greatly appreciate this opportunity to get to know faculty and staff members, ask questions, and seek advice about their first year at UGA. This is a cost-free experience for those selected as faculty/staff mentors.

All Faculty Staff Mentors

  • Join a zoom session with University Transition Staff (30 minutes).
  • Schedule and meet with 2 assigned Dawg Camp counselors in April (30 minutes).
  • Facilitate a provided short presentation/activity for 15-20 incoming students at Dawg Camp.
  • Send provided email to Dawg Camp Small Group by the end of the first week of class.
  • Meet with students from Small Group from Discovery during the Fall as schedule allows (meetings can be 15+ minutes).
  • Serve as a supporter for University Transitions + Dawg Camp Extended Orientation.

Dawg Camp Discovery Commitments

  • Have a provided lunch with assigned Dawg Camp counselors on staff workday.
  • Have dinner with Small Group during Dawg Camp Discovery.
  • Serve on a panel for all Dawg Camp Discovery participants.
